The
gallery currently features artwork from the period
2007-8.
The
selection includes the Negate series - torso
studies in oil using a limited palette of mixed greys.
These works explore the transition of image between
a perceived source and a finished composition. They
address the representation of a negative photographic
image in an implied 'negative' perspective.
The
selection also includes large 'portraits' of roses
in full bloom. Again, the palette is dominated by
manually-mixed grey with occasional strips of coloured
image allowed to intrude upon the composition.
The
majority of Tim's work is conducted on large expanses
of panel or canvas. He favours the square format as
a means of divorcing the image from any photographic
source or aspect ratio. Continuing to experiment,
he often concludes an oil painting by augmenting the
surface with squares of wax paper, latex and found
objects.
